Global Leaders in Media Law Practice
Lee & Lee was founded in 1955 by the late Lee Kuan Yew, the founder of modern Singapore, with his wife and brother. The firm remains one of Singapore’s leading law firms with a team of over 200 lawyers, paralegals and support staff. Individual partners have been recognised as leading experts in their respective fields by eminent legal publications.
The firm’s intellectual property department in particular advises extensively on both contentious and non-contentious matters relating to technology, media and telecommunications law. Led by senior counsel Tan Tee Jim, the team represents major clients in the media, telecommunication, film, sound recording and software industries. It has also advised a number of governmental authorities such as the Media Development Authority (MDA) of Singapore, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore.
The team is adept at developing new licensing and transactional frameworks and strategies, and regularly drafts, reviews and advises on media, software and related technology agreements. Lawyers have also advised on software and internet-based transactions, as well as personal data protection and management.
